The delivery of Chiropractic care is at the core of Back2Strength Chiropractic.

Chiropractic defined

"Chiropractic is a primary health care discipline, which emphasises the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery. The practise of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between the structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health."

The Scottish ChiropracticAssociation, 2007

"Hands on" mainpulation explained

Physical treatment of choice is primarily spinal adjusting - "hands on" manipulation of the spine and other joints of the body. An adjustment is a specific manual thrust to a joint in order to stimulate nerve endings and to restore normal joint movement. In a healthy person adjusting helps maintain good spinal cord reflexes preserving optimum mobility and muscles support. When joints ache adjusting can help reduce painful inflammation for the body to heal better.

The direction, speed, depth and angle that are used are the result of experience, practice and thorough understanding of spinal and skeletal mechanics. Sometimes the energy delivered during the thrust produces a slight "popping" sound from shifting gas and fluids in the joint. This does not hurt and is the result from stretch applied to the joint.

To become a Chiropractor a five year full time eduction is necessary. The modern curriculum includes all basic health sciences including anatomy, physiology, pathology, diagnosis, radiography and radiology. Today, whilst maintaining its original principles of a "hands on, drug free" approach, Chiropractic in the UK has matured into a natural health discipline based on solid scientific grounds.
